Northbridge

Set beneath an architecturally striking coastal residence, this project involved the creation of a sophisticated landscape designed to complement one of the area's most impressive contemporary homes. Featuring expansive glazing, panoramic views and resort-inspired outdoor living spaces, the property demanded a landscape that enhanced the architecture while remaining functional, low-maintenance and visually impactful from every level.

We were engaged midway through the construction process, working closely with both the builder and client to coordinate the landscape works alongside the ongoing build. The site's steep topography presented significant logistical challenges, with more than 70 stairs separating the upper and lower sections of the property.

At the commencement of works, the only existing landscape feature retained on site was a mature Bungalow Palm, which had been carefully protected and incorporated into the new design. Despite restricted site access and challenging street conditions, the project was delivered seamlessly alongside the final stages of the home's construction.

Our scope included the complete delivery of all soft landscape elements, including drainage infrastructure, soil preparation and installation, steel garden edging, retaining wall components, planting, turf installation and a fully automated irrigation system. Every aspect was designed to support long-term plant health while ensuring the landscape complemented the home's premium architectural aesthetic.

The planting palette was carefully curated to complement the home's architectural design. A combination of structural succulents, native species and feature specimen plants was used to create depth, texture and year-round visual interest throughout the landscape. Hero species such as Dragon Trees and palms provide bold architectural form and strong focal points, while the surrounding native and softer planting selections help soften the built elements and create a seamless connection to the coastal setting.

Following completion, we have continued to maintain the property. Over several years, the landscape has evolved with the client's changing preferences, including the introduction of new plantings and garden enhancements. Our fortnightly maintenance service includes lawn care, fertilisation, hedging, shaping and ongoing landscape management, ensuring the property continues to mature beautifully and remain presented to the highest standard.
