The Dusty

Working closely with our clients throughout all stages of this project, the main requirements were to open up this sloping block and create an unobstructed feel to the front of the property when viewed from the main bedroom and living areas, all while ensuring privacy and also street appeal.

With an already landscaped backyard with space for the kids and entertaining, our focus is on creating a pocket of tranquility, a space that is welcoming, with texture and depth. This space needs to be aesthetically pleasing from a 270 degree view, with no set front or back.

A primary feature of this project is the Canary Island Date Palm, which was to be featured and be heavily integrated into the design.

The design of ‘The Dusty’ showcases a series of 5 evenly tiered retaining walls that each act as individual garden pods, with each one different to the next, while blending and overflowing into each other, all set around the gorgeous expanding canopy of the Canary Island Date Palm. There is a real sense of continuity and harmony in this design through the repetition of these pods.

Matt has great design ideas, his vision is unsurpassable, and his team are so thorough with precision workmanship, friendliness and professionalism they completed a fantastic overhaul to the bare front of my home of weeds and rock into a magnificent and practical show piece.

The harsh lines are softened by the sandstone cladding and overflowing foliage, with the 5th tier, and the tier closest to the house, having a large sweeping curve, to soften these angles and assist further with opening up the space when viewed from the house.
