London Plane

This project transformed an underutilised outdoor space into a functional, multi-seasonal garden while preserving the character of the home's heritage façade. The brief was to maximise usable outdoor living areas without compromising the property's architectural charm.

The works included the removal of existing paving, installation of new drainage, paving, decking, custom seating and planting throughout the garden. The project, known as the "London Plane Project", presented unique challenges due to the extensive root systems of the mature London Plane trees surrounding the property, requiring careful planning of both drainage and construction.

A combination of limestone paving and crazy paving was selected to complement the home, with a curved fire pit and seating area creating a standout entertaining feature. Custom Millboard composite decking was carefully cut to follow the curved design, while integrated garden beds softened the hardscape and added visual interest.

Due to the shaded conditions beneath the mature trees, a palette of shade-loving plants including Ctenanthe, Rhapis Palms and Violets was chosen to provide year-round texture and greenery. We also assisted with sourcing the feature pots and fire pit, completing a welcoming outdoor retreat designed for both relaxation and entertaining.
